Are YOU Ready for a Change in the Dance Studio?
The old paradigm of only learning dance in person is ready to be challenged.
The dance students of today are used to technology as an integral part of their lives. While nothing will ever or should ever replace the magic of in person learning and teaching, there is still space for change in the old traditional model.
It's time to embrace a HYBRID MODEL in the dance studio world.
Begin by offering a single online class that is designed as a supplemental class to support the the in studio work of teachers and students, you can begin to experiment and explore what such a model can do for you, the studio and students.
Some things CAN be taught and even have benefits unique to online teaching.
An Online Student Acceleration Programme
The To the Pointe: Beyond Exercises was designed with all content chosen to be most effective in an online class. By including self assessment, noticing skills, developing intrinsic movement, goal setting and tools and strategies for effective home practice, this course will set students up for success in all their other classes.
This class can be described as a student accelerator, helping students to accelerate their learning and growth in all their other dance classes.
The technique content was chosen for its safety and effectiveness in helping dancers to deepen strength, sensitivity and stamina in the legs and feet, ideal for transitioning to pointe work or to support 1-2nd year pointe dancers.
And by including brain integration, reflex integration and functional anatomy with imagery, dancers are given the benefit of content that simply rarely occurs in studio because of time and the need to focus on the moving part. This programme is like a series of masterclasses delivered with well thought out progressions over the course of many digestible lessons.

Course Instructor: Mariah-Jane Thies
While she does have over 37 years teaching ballet experience, it is her complementary training that is what makes this course truly unique. The integration of the reflexes and developmental patterns has been a focus of study for 24 years, and informs all her teaching. Her Brain Gym certification is the foundation guiding not only the brain integration element in all her teaching, but also the creation of the learning environment for accelerated learning. It is for this work that in 2024 she was awarded the RAD Innovation in Dance Teacher Award.
Mariah-Jane also has decades of personal experience of dealing with foot problems that stemmed from a traumatic ankle injury at 10 years old. The desire to truly recover from this lead her down a pathway of discovery about fascia, foot reflexes, releasing trauma and building the arch of the foot.
