Self Assessment
When learning online you will need to improve skills at self assessment. Portions of each lesson will be devoted to this, and it will translate to also getting more out of every dance class you take in studio.
Structured Learning
Online learning requires guidance and support to help you to keep up with your studies. You will receive an email lesson M/W/F each week to give you digestible bits of information and new exercises.
Community Support
Going it alone is lonely and not necessary, even with a self study programme online. Join other dancers like you worldwide, as you all dig into the content and discover more about your dancer skills and habits.
Course Instructor:
Mariah-Jane Thies
The Radiant Dance Teacher Artistic Director, Mariah-Jane Thies, is the course creator and teacher.
While she does have over 35 years teaching ballet experience, it is her complementary training that is what makes this course truly unique. The integration of the reflexes and developmental patterns has been a focus of study for 24 years, and informs all her teaching. Her Brain Gym certification is the foundation guiding not only the brain integration element in all her teaching, but also the creation of the learning environment for accelerated learning.
Mariah-Jane also has decades of personal experience of dealing with foot problems that stemmed from a traumatic ankle injury at 10 years old. The desire to truly recover from this lead her down a pathway of discovery about fascia, foot reflexes, releasing trauma and building the arch of the foot.
How will the Material be Delivered?
Once you sign up you will receive a lesson via your email 3x a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
You do NOT need to complete the lesson on that day, however it is a great idea and strongly recommended that you work to keep pace with the 3 lessons a week, in order to give your body the chance to gain the skills at the right speed. You can't rush strengthening, but you can definitely go too slow.

What are the Areas of Technique
The following 6 Sections will form the basis of the technique portions of the lessons.
Squish
For proper function the foot must be malleable and squishy, so it is where we start every time there is a pointe preparation section.
Sensitivity
Thru the development of the vestibular system, and focus on sensitivity, students will achieve great balance skills and good proprioception.
Strength
Strength training requirements go far beyond repetitions and must include muscle balancing and ensuring a 3D pointe is available at all times.
Stamina
Students will need both the physical and mental stamina to be ready for the rigours of pointe work. Cuing healthy intrinsic motivation will be shared.
Stretch
Stretching effectively is a matter of both timing and technique. The methods will come from the latest science research and applied kinesiology.
Support
Dynamic core support, along with support from the effective use of distance eye focus and breathing 3D is a vital and important part of the training.

You will be helped to set realistic goals and chunk it down to bite size pieces as an essential part of effective learning.

When dealing with self study, your ongoing motivation will be an essential piece.

This course runs for 14 weeks, with 42 lessons.
Payment can be made as a one time payment OR as 4 payments across the study period.

To answer your questions throughout the 14 week training session, there will be 2 Live Zoom Calls. These calls will be recorded and put into the course resources, so if you are unable to attend live you can watch at your leisure.
